Quick answer
This is the $189 day that solves Buffalo Trace's empty reservation calendar: the operator holds distillery slots, you pick three houses from their list — Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Four Roses is the classic combination — and a driver handles the 150-mile triangle. It is the most reviewed tour in this comparison at 4.5 from 661 bookings.
Key takeaways
- Admissions to all three distilleries are inside the $189 — where a distillery charges for its tour, that ticket is covered
- The start time and meeting point arrive after booking, once your distillery picks are confirmed
- Cancellation is stricter than most: the listing calls the sale final, so lock your dates first
- Lunch is not included — the Whiskey Row food walk covers that gap on a different day
- Compare it against the choose-your-combo alternative before booking
What the Day Actually Buys You
Three distilleries in one day sounds simple until you look at a map: Buffalo Trace sits in Frankfort, Woodford Reserve outside Versailles, Four Roses in Lawrenceburg. Stringing them together privately means 150+ miles of driving with tastings in between — which is exactly the arrangement Kentucky troopers are watching for. The tour's real product is the driver and the pre-booked slots, with the bourbon as the payload.
The operator's list runs deeper than the headline trio: Wild Turkey, Maker's Mark, Bulleit, Stitzel-Weller, Limestone Branch and a rotating cast of craft houses all appear, subject to each distillery's availability on your date. Reviewers consistently single out the guides by name — Jorie comes up repeatedly — and the pattern across a year of reviews is that the guide, not the pour list, makes the day.
The honest caveat: this listing's cancellation terms are final-sale, and the start time only lands after your picks are confirmed. If your travel dates wobble, the free-cancellation alternatives on the comparison are the safer bet.
How the Day Runs
Times are indicative — your confirmed itinerary sets the exact order and start.
-
08:00
Louisville pickup
Meeting point and exact time arrive with your confirmed itinerary, usually central Louisville.
-
09:15
First distillery
Typically Buffalo Trace in Frankfort: guided walk through the working campus, then a tasting of the core lineup.
-
12:00
Second distillery + lunch stop
Woodford Reserve's stone warehouses near Versailles, with a lunch break built around it (food not included).
-
14:30
Third distillery
Four Roses in Lawrenceburg, known for its ten distinct bourbon recipes, or your third pick from the list.
-
17:30
Return to Louisville
Drop-off back at the meeting point; Saturday traffic can stretch this leg.
The Triangle It Drives
Frankfort, Versailles and Lawrenceburg form the day's triangle, all 50-plus miles east of Louisville — the distance is why this runs a full day.
Questions About This Tour
Which distilleries can I choose on this tour?
The operator's list includes Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Maker's Mark, Bulleit, Stitzel-Weller and several craft houses. Three picks, confirmed against each distillery's availability for your date — Buffalo Trace slots are the scarcest, which is half the reason this tour exists.
Are the distillery tours themselves included, or just transport?
Both transport and the distillery admissions are in the $189 — tours and/or tastings at each of the three stops, depending on what each house offers that day.
Can I cancel this tour?
The listing marks this experience non-refundable — the sale is final, with a weather exception on the operator's side. If you need flexibility, the B&C bourbon day runs with free cancellation.
Is lunch included?
No. Itineraries build in a food stop, but what lands on the table is on you. Most groups eat near Woodford Reserve or in downtown Frankfort.
What Travellers Said
We had a great experience. Our tour guide Jorie was great from start to finish and even got to bring us to a fourth spot! No problems with pickup, communication, or timing for all Of our stops. My only recommendation would be to have a cooler to keep the complimentary waters cold, but overall would definitely come back!
The tour was great. We booked our trip only a week before going and was able to book this tour. They were able to get us into great distilleries as well as my #1 pick. The driver/guide was knowledgeable. I also really liked the door-to-door service for pickup from the hotel.
Great experience!! The tour guide (Barbara) was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout. Despite a couple of different preferences amongst the group, she made it work seamlessly without inconveniencing anyone and enabled us to see more than we had originally planned on.
